Flooding Freight Delays Update

 June 2nd

There was a big push from some of our carriers last night, along with linehaul operators utilising a road option that circumvented the flooding and the issue with the bridge on State Highway at Ashburton. A lot of the backlog, both in and out of Christchurch to the Lower South Island has been eased.

The volume of freight is significant in all of these areas and our carriers will work diligently to clear all that they can over the next couple of days. We appreciate your patience with us managing these volumes over the coming week and as usual if you have any queries around courier and freight delays always contact your local PACK & SEND service centre for more info.

We appreciate your patience in our carriers have to resort to this..!

Due to heavy rain falling throughout Canterbury and South Canterbury with some resulting road closures, we’re very likely to see ongoing freight delays in the South Island and to some extent in the North related to these regions until the flooding clears.

Flooding conditions throughout the Canterbury and South Canterbury regions will cause us ongoing service delays for the next few days as effected areas return to normal and flood damage is rectified. Road freight from the North Island to the Lower South Island regions below Christchurch was also stagnant on Sunday night. With this in mind there will be significant volumes of freight backlogged and may not be in place for delivery until Wednesday morning and onwards.

Areas mainly effected are Ashburton, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, Queenstown, Wanaka, Central Otago, Invercargill and all points between and surrounding these regions. It is equally important to note that freight heading north will also be affected.
